A shot that tightly frames the subject (usually an actor’s face). There are several varieties of close-up: medium close-up (MCU), head and shoulders; close-up (CU), neck to top of head; big close-up (BCU), cutting off chin and forehead; and extreme close-up (ECU), tight on one specific facial feature.
