Directed by Jen McGowan, RUST CREEK tells the story of Sawyer Scott (Hermione Corfield), an overachieving college senior whose road trip becomes a life-changing fight for survival when she takes a wrong turn in the mountains of eastern Kentucky. Wounded, lost, and hunted by dangerous criminals, Sawyer confronts her own mortality for the first time. Pushed to exhaustion by the elements, she finds an unlikely ally in Lowell Pritchert (Jay Paulson), a mysterious recluse. While both cops and criminals race to locate Sawyer, Lowell’s mercurial temperament and troubled past threaten to drive her from the safety of his isolated home on the banks of Rust Creek.

RUST CREEK was shot on location in Kentucky with an incredible crew of Lunatics who braved the elements to bring this exciting story to the screen. In accordance with Lunacy Productions’ mandate to support female filmmakers, most of the key roles on the film were filled by women, including director of photography, production designer, colorist, and sound mixer. The production was awarded the 2018 Women In Film LA Finishing Fund grant as a result.
RUST CREEK will be screening twice this weekend at the San Diego International Film Festival: first on Friday, 10/12, at 4:00pm, with an encore at 4:00pm on Saturday, 10/13. Director Jen McGowan will be available for a Q&A following the Friday show.
